About This Game

Some games ask you to survive. Ultrakill asks you to look incredible while doing it. This browser version of Ultrakill Prelude, created by Cake Logic, faithfully brings the opening chapter of Hakita’s acclaimed indie FPS to HTML5, allowing you to experience its signature speed and stylish combat directly from your browser. There’s nothing to install just jump in and start blasting through Hell. While this is an unofficial web port, it preserves the frantic gameplay that made Ultrakill one of the highest-rated indie shooters in recent years.

Built around relentless movement, creative weapon combinations, and performance-based scoring, Ultrakill rewards players who refuse to slow down. Every encounter feels like a speedrun, every arena becomes a playground, and every kill is another opportunity to earn a higher style rating.

Humanity Is Gone. Blood Is Everything.

The world has ended. Humans no longer exist, leaving behind only machines that require blood as fuel. With Earth’s resources exhausted, those machines descend into Hell searching for fresh victims.

You play as V1, a highly advanced combat machine capable of repairing itself by absorbing the blood of defeated enemies. Instead of hiding behind cover, Ultrakill encourages you to rush directly into combat. The closer you fight, the longer you survive. As you descend deeper into Hell, you’ll battle horrifying demons, rival machines, and powerful bosses inspired by Dante’s Inferno.

Fast Combat That Never Slows Down

Ultrakill is built around momentum. Instead of hiding behind cover, you’ll stay in constant motion while chaining together attacks, dodging enemy fire, and switching weapons on the fly. The faster and more creatively you fight, the more rewarding every encounter becomes.

Throughout each level you’ll:

  • Sprint through arenas at incredible speed.
  • Slide beneath enemy attacks.
  • Dash to avoid projectiles.
  • Jump into the air to extend your combos.
  • Swap between powerful weapons instantly.
  • Punch or parry enemies for extra damage.
  • Recover health by absorbing the blood of defeated enemies.

Every weapon has its own strengths, and combining them effectively is the key to surviving tougher encounters. The game’s Style Meter also rewards variety, so experimenting with different weapons and movement techniques is just as important as landing accurate shots.

Can You Earn a Perfect P-Rank?

Every mission ends with a detailed performance report that measures how efficiently you played. Your final rank is determined by four categories:

  • Time Finish the level as quickly as possible.
  • Kills Eliminate every enemy.
  • Style Perform creative weapon combos and maintain momentum.
  • Deaths & Restarts Complete the stage without dying or using checkpoints.

The ultimate goal is earning the legendary P-Rank (Perfect Rank).

To achieve it, you must earn an S Rank in Time, Kills, and Style, while completing the entire level without dying or restarting from a checkpoint.

Perfecting a stage takes practice, smart routing, and complete mastery of Ultrakill’s movement system. Every successful P-Rank run feels like a carefully choreographed speedrun where every second and every shot matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the full Ultrakill game?

No. This browser version contains Ultrakill Prelude, the opening section of the full game. The complete version is available separately on Steam.

Is this an official Ultrakill release?

No. The browser port was created by Cake Logic and is an unofficial fan project. It is not affiliated with Hakita or New Blood Interactive.

Can I play Ultrakill without downloading it?

Yes. This HTML5 version runs directly in your browser, so you can start playing instantly.

Can I play Ultrakill on mobile?

No. The web port is designed for keyboard and mouse and currently does not support mobile devices.

Why does Ctrl sometimes close my browser tab?

By default, Slide is mapped to Ctrl. In many browsers, pressing Ctrl + W closes the current tab. Many players simply rebind Slide to another key from the Controls menu.

Can I change the controls?

Yes. Open the pause menu, go to Options → Controls, and customize every keybinding.

Does the game save my progress?

Recent updates have improved the save system, but because this is a browser port, save functionality has been an ongoing area of development.

Why are enemy outlines missing?

Enemy outlines are intentionally disabled in the current web version because enabling them causes graphical problems, including camera issues and black screens.
