Road of The Dead
About This Game
The city is under quarantine, the highway is crawling with zombies, and the military is determined to keep you inside. Road of the Dead puts you behind the wheel in a desperate race to escape, with danger coming from both sides of the windshield.
Created by Evil-Dog and SickDeathFiend and originally released on October 13, 2010, this Flash classic combines first-person driving with zombie survival action. Instead of watching your car from above, you experience the chaos from the driver’s seat. Every obstacle feels closer, and every split-second decision matters.
Core Gameplay of Road of The Dead
- Smash and Survive: Drive down a chaotic highway filled with abandoned vehicles, debris, and wandering zombies. Hitting the undead grants you points, but hitting dead cars damages your vehicle.
- Evade the Military: The army has locked down the city and will actively shoot at you. Dodge their gunfire, weave through heavy roadblocks, and watch out for explosive hazards dropped by helicopters.
- Clear Your Vision: Running over zombies is messy. As blood splatters across your windshield and blocks your view, you must actively use your wipers to clean the glass before you crash.
- Upgrade at the Garage: Earn RP (Respect Points) by driving recklessly, surviving longer distances, and hitting enemies. Spend your RP in the garage to heavily armor your car, upgrade your engine, and purchase firearms.
Game Modes
- The Great Escape: Follow the main story and fight your way out of the city.
- Highway to Hell: Take on a tougher version of the main escape.
- Dead on Time: Travel as far as possible while killing zombies to earn extra time.
- Police State: Test how far you can get against military resistance.
What is the story of Road of the Dead?
You play as an unnamed mechanic trapped in Evans City just as a horrific mutant zombie outbreak begins. Instead of waiting for rescue, you build a custom survival car to break out. However, the military has established a strict quarantine and has been given orders to shoot all civilians trying to leave the city.
How do I get the blood off my screen?
As you run over the infected, blood and gore will cover your windshield, completely blinding you. You must press the F key to activate your windshield wipers to wash the blood away and restore your vision.
Can I fight back against the military?
Yes. Once you earn enough Respect Points (RP), you can unlock the handgun in the garage upgrades menu. This allows you to aim with your mouse and shoot back at the military soldiers guarding the roadblocks.
Is this the original Flash version?
Yes! Thanks to modern web emulation, you can play the exact original, fully unblocked Flash version of Road of the Dead with all of its classic features directly on gameVgames without needing to install any outdated plugins.
